In no particular order, here are 13 of our favorite places for breakfast in St. Augustine Florida. You may notice that we haven’t mentioned two big breakfast chains in this area, Maple Street Biscuit Company and the Metro Diner. Although those are also solid choices with amazing eats, we wanted to inspire you to try something new!
1. The Blue Hen Café
The Blue Hen Café has been serving up a solid breakfast menu since 2013. We love how they prepare their classic comfort food dishes like Corned Beef Hash and Chicken Biscuits.

On our last visit, Elliot couldn’t resist their breakfast burrito with a side of pumpkin pancakes. The burrito was packed with flavor, and the pancakes were the perfect balance of sweet and fluffy. Jen opted for the hearty Corned Beef Hash, which arrived with home fries, sautéed peppers and onions, two eggs, and a delicious homemade peach butter biscuit. It should go without saying that we didn’t leave hungry.
We also appreciated seeing smaller-sized options, like their Breakfast Sandwich with two eggs and cheddar cheese on a brioche bun for only $5. So whether you’re craving a hearty Southern feast or a quick bite before exploring St. Augustine, The Blue Hen Café is a solid stop for any appetite.

Their all-day breakfast menu features traditional Southern diner favorites such as Biscuits and Gravy, Grits, and Chicken Fried Chicken, as well as more unique plates like their Sunrise Burger. If you prefer a sweet breakfast, they have several pancakes, waffles, and even French Toast dishes as well.

Elliot went for The Classic Breakfast, while Jen ordered the Surfer Sarah omelet. Both of us were blown away by just how crispy the fried baby potatoes were that accompanied Elliot’s dish. We thoroughly enjoyed both of our plates and felt they were just the right amount of food for breakfast.
As far as the atmosphere goes, we loved the nostalgic diner vibe, complete with endless coffee refills. All in all, we think that Beachside Diner is the best breakfast St. Augustine Beach has to offer. Keep in mind that we visited at 8:45 am on a Saturday, and by the time we left, they had a long line out the door.

But these pies are savory, and, although typically enjoyed for lunch, this café serves up several breakfast varieties stuffed with ingredients like bacon, egg, cheddar, and sweet potato, just to name a few.

On our visit, we enjoyed a Flat White and a Green Goddess drink, but we want to go back on emptier stomachs to try these breakfast pies, so if you make it there before us, let us know which was your favorite! We’ve only been to their Dondaville Road, but we also recommend their beachside location or historic downtown location as well if you’re looking for breakfast or coffee near St. Augustine Beach.
