1. Resurrect Art Coffee House $
You can’t talk about Seward, Alaska, without mentioning Resurrect Art Coffee House & Gallery—we loved it so much we visited twice! This unique café is housed in a 100-year-old former Methodist church that the owners have since reformed into a spacious coffee shop and art gallery.
In addition to their delicious hot drinks and locally displayed art, they bake all their fantastic pastries daily in the basement. The cherry on top is that they keep their doors open year-round from 7 am to 5 pm, even when many other businesses close for the winter.

We went for their “Sage Against the Machine” latte, a classic latte with a sage flavor, along with a freshly baked cinnamon roll and blueberry scone. The coffee and pastry combo was our ideal grab-and-go breakfast before heading out on a Major Marine Tours cruise.
⏰ Arrive Early! Plan to arrive early in the summer months if you want a treat with your coffee, as they seemed to sell out as early as noon in peak season.

2. Firebrand BBQ $$
Firebrand BBQ is your go-to spot for hearty breakfasts and Texas barbecue in Seward, Alaska. You might wonder what a Texas barbecue spot is doing in Seward, but this business has a great story. The owners, Chad and Stephanie, lived in Texas for many years, so after moving to the Last Frontier, they decided to bring the taste of home with them!
We went in the middle of the day and split a “Plate” with two types of meat. All in all, we got ribs, pulled pork, potato salad, cole slaw, baked beans, and Texas toast. We thoroughly enjoyed the meal and found the plate plus one extra meat to be the perfect amount of food. The ribs fell off the bone, and the barbecue sauces were 10/10!
All of Firebrand BBQ’s seating is located outdoors. If the weather is super cold and you’re looking for a spot to warm up, we recommend choosing another spot on this list.

3. The Cookery $$
The Cookery is a popular dinner spot serving up a variety of dishes that use locally-sourced ingredients from the Kenai Peninsula, with a focus on seafood. As they no longer accept reservations, they often have a long wait once they open at 5 PM. If you don’t mind waiting, it’s the best sit-down nice restaurant in the town!
We visited this restaurant just for dessert and ordered their “Carrot Cake Parfait” with homemade cream cheese icing. It was delicious! We wish we had more time to try a full meal here as the entire menu looked incredible.

4. Lone Chicharron Taqueria $
Lone Chicharron Taqueria is the top-rated Mexican restaurant in all of Seward, Alaska, serving up tacos, burritos, and tortas. This was the top recommendation from our tour guide Zeke from Sunny Cove Kayaking, who lives in Seward.
We ordered the Elote (corn), Pescado (rockfish), Carne Asada (steak), and Carnitas (pork) tacos. All in all, the tacos were pretty good, especially for a place as remote as Seward. Although they weren’t the best tacos we’ve ever had, it was still a delicious meal after a long day of exploring!
ℹ️ Pro Tip: If you go to Seward Alehouse next door, you can order tacos at Lone Chicharron through a window at the bar, which is pretty cool.

5. Miller’s Landing Cafe $$
Miller’s Landing Cafe is located down in Lowell Point, south of the main Seward downtown, overlooking Resurrection Bay. Here, you can order anything from a quick coffee or beer to a full sit-down meal. Lots of backpackers visit here, so it definitely had more of a bohemian vibe compared to the main, touristy Seward area.
We shared a basket of their Fish & Chips with a beer, and it was spectacular! This was easily one of the best fish and chips we’ve ever had. We enjoyed our meal outside on their covered porch overlooking the bay. While we ate, we watched as the local fishermen processed that day’s catch right by the water.
